EC-Council, leaders in information security training and education in conjunction with SIMOS Consultancy Services launched a network security product to deter hackers' from infiltrating information systems. The Certified Ethical Hacker version 7 (CEHv7) product is engineered by professional hackers and security researchers & contains build tools used by cyber criminals to gain there way into system networks.
With the uptake of fiber connectivity especially now that the third undersea cable is about to be laid on Kenyan ground, our flood gates of internet connectivity and attack perimeter continue to rise. It therefore becomes important to train ICT professionals on ways to mitigate these attacks. CEHv7 provides a comprehensive ethical hacking and network security training program to meet the standards of highly skilled security professionals.
Balamurugan Rajagopal, the managing director of SIMOS Consultancy, says that as a company they focus on information security which a lot of people confuse this whole concept with information technology security. A major information security void exists in Kenyan organizations and institutions, there is a need to train and equip our cyber crime defenders.
The function saw the awarding of certificates to seven ethical hackers from different organizations that had undergone a training programme on Ethical Hacking. Among the participants were from the eGovernment of Kenya, Kenya Anti-corruption commission, Kenya Forensics, and representatives from other consultancy firms. The course becomes relevant especially in this era of information diversity.
"The major hinderance to information security is lack of proper policies to implement them", says Mathew Troniak Senior Sector Advisor - Finance USAID. He further added that the value of an organization is protected when its information is safely handled.Kenya Methodist University is one of the first universities to engage with EC-Council in information security programmes.
